Is 3.5G not the same as HSDPA?

Why is there such hype in MTN advertising about their 3.5G offering? Is this in fact no the same as HSDPA?
 
True - it's like EDGE was also called 2.5G in some circles. 3.5G is probably easier to market to the masses that don't have a clue, but need the ultimate speed to check their email...maybe
 
What are we going to call HSDPA at 3.6 Mbps? I suggest 3.6G because it is twice the current 1.8 Mbps!
 
I think it has more to do with the Mhz range in which the technology operates rather than the speed.
I might be wrong, but 3G and 3.5G operate on different ones and with the right vooma they can up the speed of it.
Someone should google or wikipedia this, I'm just a tad too lazy right now.

nope they operate on the same mhz frequency.
