A while back I purchased the 2GB Int+30GB local package from openweb for R130~R140.

I can't find this offer anymore (only the 30GB local package @ R139).

If I purchase the 30GB local package (IS) (see http://www.openweb.co.za/local_adsl.php), will I still be able to access facebook?

Not unless IS is feeling generous - or you purchase that along with openwebs openbrowse...

You'll need to jump through hoops soulman if you want to access Facebook on that account.

Local only access - another proudly South African abomination of the interweb. :(

Rant rant rant :)
Do you realise you cant even access some government sites on local only because they're hosted abroad. Hows that for free access to information.

So yeah - I'll comment on the sorry state of internet access here.

Your comments and criticism on the state of internet access is perfect.... the sarcastic "proudly South African" reference and the connotations it comes with are what I responded to...

As stated by J but not too clearly, OpenWeb has the OpenBrowse facility where, if you pay them, you can use your local to access international pages, for browsing only, via their local proxy server.

Local only http://openweb.co.za/local_adsl.php
Some international with that http://openweb.co.za/is_adsl.php

From tonight @ 18:00 Openweb officially starts Opentime a free add-on for openbrowse, when You can also download files (no restrictions), OpenTime starts every Friday @ 18:00 & ends Mondays @ 06:00

Haha and the ozzies maon cause they have caps of 20GB+ and ADSL+ and Cable in Sydney. Ohh my word.

if you want the 2/30GB IS account for R135 per month go to www.xdsl.co.za

I have IS 30gb local only

HOWEVER, sometimes its just open on international, the full line speed even :) Especially websites hosted in the US are fast, just as if you had normal traffic.

I use mine mainly for the IS news server, but getting a lot of rapidshare stuff too lately.

So if its open for a few days ur lucky, if not. Well you only paid R130 for 30gb..

I looked around on Webafrica's site but I can't find the 2/30 package anywhere?:(

is x-dsl contract based or month-to-month like webafrica?
