Wanting to replace my main Earth leakage switch which is likely overly sensitive.

There are 2 options.

1P+N or a 2P switch. Both 30mA sensitivity and 63A so in all respects identical. The only difference I can find is that the neutral on the 1P+N does not have thermal magnetic tripping.

The price difference is also 4x cheaper than the 2P, so the question really is, is it necessary to have the neutral protected? I assume 2P is normally used if power is accidentally sent over the neutral by the grid?

AFAIK, a 1P+N trips only on a live to earth leakage whereas a 2P will also trip on a neutral to earth leakage.

Nothing wrong with a 1p+n, as a neutral to earth leakage would not pose a safety risk.
You should have a simple 2 pole isolator connected before the earth leakage.

Speaking under correction, but it also depends on whether or not there is a double pole isolator on the mains input to the DB. If no isolator then you cant use the 1P + N unit?

Can someone confirm this?
