howsit guys,

do any of you know if afrihost is blocking torrents from being downloaded - i mean when i click download to download the .torrent file it fails?
Thanks guys

yeah well being capped means you don't have any bandwidth left in any case to download them.

And no they don't block torrents from being downloaded.

Highly doubt it, did you not perhaps install some new Anti-Virus or Internet Security of some sort. It's hard to tell with no details, I wouldn't mind a screenshot or paste.

I've got enough bandwidth but still feels like I am being throttled :(

What do you mean "fails"? Please post a link to a screenshot. Have you tried in different browsers?

Not only on Afrihost, got bad international speed on SAIX and IS !! grrr flying at 200 instead of 400 Kb/s ... (and I tried 3 diff providers)

what is happening with all these ISPs .... could it REALLY be that uncapped is screwing up the internet?

Actually a LARGE portion of ISPs DO block you from downloading .torrent files, it's a sort of retarded attempt at curbing p2p usage.

This has been countered by most popular websites now offering either magnet links or an option to download as a .txt (which you then rename to .torrent)

qBittorent torrents blocked

yes I no longer can download torrents using a torrent client (qBittorent) when you click on a file to download it just turns the title in the search results red.it doesn't add the torrent to the download queue,I suspect Afrihost has put a block on it.

Ive got capped account too.guess news servers is the only way then as it uses SSL so the packets being sent cannot be deciphered.

Nice necro,

Try use a magnet link, are you using the afrigreen account?

YOH! 5 year thread revival :p
We don't block anything on our network. Shaping is applied to Uncapped accounts, but torrents are still accessible.

Are you having issues downloading the actual .torrent file or the download of the content?

The speed of a torrent depends on how many seeds/peers you have.
Many people just click any link and when the speed is only 10 Kb/sec the very first thing they do is crap all over their ISP, instead of choosing a link with more seeders.
I do torrents all the time and always get full speed, and if it slows down, I stop it and go choose another link with more seeders.
Unfortunately because of all the threats about p2p and stuff in this country, most downloaders disable or use very slow upload speeds and the world sees this and in many cases I'm now getting, "Sorry we cannot provide this service in your country" or they slow down to a snails pace.

I used to get this too. Torrents were very fast to start and you didn't need many seeders. Then something chnaged and it would sit there for 5 minutes before anything happened.
