Hi All

Is there a problem with Afrihost/IS at the moment? Reason I ask my connection seems to be good for about 30 minutes, I then get terrible packet loss and finally disconnected. I asked Telkom to check my line and they advised me everything was fine.

I did see other people mentioning issues with Afrihost but no concrete responses.

Thanks in advance.

No problem here on afrihost/IS.

Packet loss is fine this side, 1 packet lost of 199 sent to a local site.

No significant difference in packet loss to international (google.com)

Thanks for the quick responses.

Gonna follow it up with Telkom again.

Likewise in Somerset West, no problems latency good no packet loss.

Yes my connection has dropped a number of times in the last 24 hours.

Core2a link was ****ed last night and judging from the current speeds here, still is. So it's effectively an IS issue which has no ETA on being fixed, goddamn South African internet ;D

Why is it affecting some people and not others tho?

No idea tbh, i'm actually gonna try other DNS servers to see if I have any luck.

IS and Web Africa speed issues

I've noticed speed issues too but couldn't find any IS bulletins which may be related.
Been trying to download a 310MB file now all morning and every few minutes the speed would plummet and the download would stall. Then a short while later it would resume and be at good speed again until the cycle repeats itself.
It thought it might be something intermittent with our IS connection (50GB Business DSL Fibre), so I tested our backup Web Africa line which is behaving precisely the same way (all international sites).

Very irksome...

I've been having the same issues for weeks, telkom was mentioning something about an exchange fault? Doesn't seem to be an ISP issue, tested on a SAIX prepaid, IS uncapped, Neotel uncapped, and Afrihost account, all have the same issues.

I live in Hurlingham - There were three Telkom vans in my street yesterday - A sigh?

Perhaps your problem is your exchange but for the rest of us, it's a dodgy IS link fault.

Had the same problem on my Axxess/IS connection last night, eta given to Axxess was 24 hours for the link to be fixed, so hopefully IS will be back to normal tonight
