Is anyone using power factor correction at home on single phase ?

in industry its certainly beneficial but for at home use ,no real benefit unless youre maybe running a pump miles away from your supply there pfc will certainly help ,voltage drop over distance can be improved .allways remember as the cable current over distance increases so the voltage decreases ,but more susceptible on lower voltage applications .
I think they normally calculate the voltage drop by checking the resistance of the cable. If it is too much then you increase the size of the cable and the pf of the motor should be on the name plate.

this is our progression of installing the unit we got it fully opporational mid june

yeah we are rated incoming 6600 then step down in 2 substations to 400v

if anyone wanted to know how electricity usage is calculated

this is before the July increase tho so add a bit more on top

what are you guys running to have had such a low(bad) power factor ?

arc welding is also terrible for pf ,weld while a fridge freezer is trying to start ,the voltage lags and compressor pops .

ill look for a pic for different pf for different industries ,some are horrific .edit added,
I'm in rubber processing which is close to plastic industry and we are still lower than that chart seems to indicate, the other thing is we are only 500m from the main district distribution substation

interesting one that .

Here is an example of a motor nameplate with the pf. You need to add a capacitor to the motor for a better rating. The pf will also change depending on the load of the motor

Who did your PF correction for you?

Disclosure: My wife's family company does PF correction amongst a whole host of medium voltage electrical equipment like auto reclosers, mini subs, liquid starters, switch gear, frequency converters, active harmonic filters, etc, etc.

we had neutron but they failed

a guy who used to work for neutron started his own company and installed modular units for us
