Hi,

In the next couple of days i will b a proud owner of an uncapped account.

Now i'll b using this line primarily to feed my addiction to Machima videos, eve vids and game demo's but I would like to know from any of you guys that actually play games Internationally how ure pings are?

Specifically i'll be playing eve-online with my new line and would like to know if possible any of your experiences wrt latency, ping times and time outs.

If the IS line doesn't work that great for this game I need to figure out something just to connect to that specific address then through a saix line.

Any help would be appreciated.

I was on the IS network for a month last year... online games really aren't playable on IS due to latency.... (I had to use a nukecap proxy to play wow)

Cause IS uses a satellite connection to international and not a sea cable.

Well if there is no time outs then i actualy wont have a lot of problems.

See eve is hosted on a uk server. Average pings range from 400-800. If i get a constant 600ms then i wont have a problem.

Telkomsuig what games were u playing?
Also note that eve is not a WASD type game where u use ure keyboard the whole time but rather a very highly mouse driven point an click interface.

wow mostly. you won't get 600 ms on IS due to the sat connection. The pings also aren't constant ... during the month i had it it spiked sometimes as high as 2000ms

k. not worried bout wow. It's a completely different type of mmorpg.

Not that just that they deal with different subject matters (scifi/fantasy) but also the interface or the way you interact with the world is miles apart.

So how does the nukecap work?

Can I integrate that with my proxy so that all requests to a certain ip go through to nukecap's thingie first?

Hi Armitage

Thats right, you can enable the vpn connection so that only the EVE servers will transfer data over the vpn connection, works with static ip routes.

Would really recommend NukeCap for the gaming part... for downloads obviously IS is the cheapest option at the moment so you get the best of both worlds. I even use it sometimes on my Saix connection when their pings go out of whack...
