I am nearing the end of my contract with MTN, and have been looking around at different specials. I see that MTN has changed their conditions, so you now get x rand value, rather than minutes. doing the maths, it seems that you end up with less value that way.
So I compared to vodacom, and cell c, and was surprised how much more value you get with a cell c contract- for 60 bucks on an all week 100 you get a phone, free cli and itemised billing, 100 any time minutes and call rates of 1,50 flat rate to any network.

compare this with mtn's 2,80 a minute peak charges and only 40 minutes free time....

has anyone used this service lately- I used to have a cell c contract and there was so much sh#@ when I canceled that I swore I would never use them again. But looking at this im having second thoughts- that will save me a ton every month.

If the phone isn't important to you then the all week 100 is a great offer on cell c.

yeah I dont really care about the phone hey- from what iv seen though they the same sort of phones you get on any of the "networks" cheaper packages

Not the worse phones on offer - Nokia 5230 or Nokia E63. Also HTC Snap and LG W525 have some decent Specs. Source : http://www.autopage.co.za/specials. I have upgraded last month on MTN, and missed out ... I got the Nokia 5230 at R100+CLI+itemised billing which leaves me paying R130 and getting less (40 min) and paying more (). Vodacom TopUp 135 for this phone is R147.50 . Cell C still offers the Casual Chat 100 which is 100 minutes offpeak@ R114/month with weaker phone offerings - I also see paper ads with Casual Chat 100 @ R144 and E250 phones - so this new package from them really knocks their older (and others) offerings.

I can't remember if Cell C offers a 3G network though?

AFAIK Cell C don't have 3G, but have EDGE. I think if you use your phone primarily for voice calls, R100 for 100 anytime minutes is very well worth it.
