get me 1 , pay the contract on a 1/4mb line and il tell u lol , most people dont have this as its a big cost
you sure ? it just seems like an adsl service that runs on a fibre network at the isp's side ?

My mate has the uncapped IS fiber account. Its fast but mot as fast as they say.

I got it and use it for WoW/CSS. Its got the lowest latency that i have seen. So yeah i say its worth it. Pitty you cant get it on pre-paid like axxess. But I find it better than unshaped saix and its half the price.

We use the OpenWeb IS fibre accounts.
To be completely honest, it's not as good as SAIX based unshaped from WebAfrica. The WebAfrica accounts are double the price, yes, but it is superior in all ways.
Don't know if this is just for us, but at night when using the IS accounts, it goes to hell, latency goes from 220~ to 400~ and back again, spikes - just plain unpleasantness. During the day and late late at night, during the quiet times, its great. WoW latency to Europe hovers around the 250~ average and spikes are hardly noticeable.
Last night when IS fibre went to hell, I fired up the SAIX unshaped and it was perfect. Problem is we bought 7gig of the IS account >.< It's back to juggling between the two I guess

Yes you can. Just seen them add prepaid IS accounts. Called semi shaped.

I tried the Axxess pre-paid one on Friday and over the weekend for international gaming, and did not notice any spikes while playing.
Perhaps this "semi" option is worth while for after-hours gamers, costing about 25% less than pre-paid unshaped.

Yes, recently the Fibre ADSL accounts have become much better. Maybe toothing problems, but at least it has settled down a bit.
Murphy says that because I said this it will now go back to hell ^_^

i'm also using the IS Fibre. Latency for me to Wow Europe is 350-450ms. No problems. Good value considering the other options.
I use 2 x 512 IS Fibre line loadbalanced to get higher upload bandwidth for outgoing mail. I am very happy with international speeds.
Only problem I have is that after power failures my one billion router can take up to a day to come right and function fully. I had it swapped but still does the same. I suspect something to do with IS routing on those IP's or something...

Fibre DSL???
DSL is a twisted copper based technology between an exchange and customer's premises. Fibre can/is one of the backhaul mediums, the protocols for ADSL is multiplexed at DSLAM, protocol change for fibre transport across the world. IS have a satellite connection out of SA which results in delays because of uplink/downlink (1200ms), compared to fibre which is much faster and costs more. Quality is never cheap.
Fibre can however transfer extremely high speeds, similar to LAN/WAN/MAN/CAn structures, the protocol however will not be GDMT(dsl).
