Is IBurst a good option for Online Games ?

Ok On a serious note though...
When you get capped and go to http only, 64kbs what happens to your ping times then..
AND..
How does being capped affect ADLS ping times?

I play(on Iburst):
Wolfenstein Enemy Territory - local server(Ping of 55!)-Can play capped
Starcraft - International Server(Ping 300)-Can play capped
C&C Generals - International Server(Ping 300)-Havent tried capped
Tribes - International server(Ping 500)-Cant play capped

All these games run fine to me, if you like strategy games you can play international servers on iburst, but if you play more FPS then use local servers only!!! Some games need a little tweaking for games to run at a nice ping. Otherwise i can pretty much say iBurst is fine for gamming!

it is good for light web browsing only !!!!!!!!!!!
 
well you guys can say what you like...i watch my brothers play games every night...and my modem says iburst on the side so im pretty sure i have one of those fings..

Sorry for the *bump*, but here are my experiences so far with online gaming with IBurst. I have to agree with the "not very good" for FPS type games comments for a start - I've been playing Joint Operations via the Novaworld servers, & the best pings I've been getting have been in the 280 - 300 range. It's playable, but only just, & be prepared for frequent laggy moments.
Slower paced games, such as Neverwinter Nights, & the MMORPG's seem to work quite well though, even with pings over 300ms.
One thing I've noticed though, is that exceeding your cap - I'm on the 3gb flavour - & being throttled back to 64kbs, doesn't seem to affect the pings much & I get pretty much the same performance out of the connection.

Is it at all possible to improve the performance of the connection, specifically for online gaming? As I understand these things, it's possible to tweak your connection by adjusting your MTU settings & so on, but I haven't got the slightest idea how to go about this so any hints & suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
 
I played tic tac toe on msn on iburst the other night and it was perfect!
 
If you're not one of the many suffering ongoing network disconnections then you have a chance to use this product for online strategic gaming.

FPS... Guess it's possible if you're located very close to the tower... I've seen solid local pings to saix ... but only for those with GOOD connections...

can you clarify whether you are playing on the 2 local JO servers ? I play on them through novaworld and normally I am in Green status , now and again I get a TX or RX warning .
 
iburst is not good for anything

IBurst is not good for anything, not even email.
 
i tried to play on the local war3 server, had pings close to 3 seconds at times, and as a result couldnt get a game...
