No rich people can be as thrifty as their poorer brethren, I have an extremely wealthy relative and they'll jump though all kind of hoops to save a few hundred rand. No idea why but I suppose getting a deal is just one part of the whole process, the "hunt" is as important for some people and also some wealthy people start from very humble beginnings and that makes them hardwired to always want to look for a "bargain".

In my opinion the true advantage of wealth is convenience, you buy what you need when you need it and from the most convenient supplier.

R30k is just the beginning, you have to pay R400+ in insurance costs each month as well or you’ll be taking that all on the chin if it’s lost or stolen.
 
Looks like there's alot of "rich" people in SA. Haven't been able to find a white pro max since I posted this. Had to cancel with Makro too. No stock anywhere
 
Aren't products void of SA taxes/duties if they are opened before shipping? So pretty much like a gift. Does MyUS or another company offer this as a service?
 
Sale tax is charged on where the merchant is located and what state the product is shipped to. So, example, buy in California and ship to a California address, the merchant will charge you the sales tax rate in the tax district they are located. In California., it can vary from 7.25% (small town in the sticks) to 10.25% (in LA). Buy in California and ship out of state, no tax.

Fora few years now, states are unhappy that the lose out when residents buy out of state so some have put rules in place where big volume merchants like, say, eBay will tack on Calif sales tax to an order shipped to a California address and then pass the tax directly on to the state.

As a matter of interest, I just checked:
The following five states currently have no statewide sales tax: Alaska, Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire and Oregon.

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming are the only states that do not levy a state income tax.
