Its basically a faster dial-up solution....not even close to broadband....well IS was crawling at 1kbps this afternoon so I cant exactly call ISDSL broadband either
Project X "Telkom Broadband" isn't even broadband!
Seriously though, the definition of "broadband internet" is a pretty contentious issue in SA at the moment. Definitions vary. What is certain though is that 64 or even 128 ISDN is definitely not broadband.
ISDN is quite a different animal to broadband. What's interesting is that while plans were in place to abandon the system in Europe due to lack of research, our glorious experts in Telkom embraced it and suckered customers into buying it. If you want a faster ISDN you are out of luck and have to switch to ADSL. The two are not interoperable and you have to start from scratch. In effect it's a dead-end. What a waste of time ?!?
Haven't you noticed that when downloading, some sites give you an indication of how long X will take to download...There are no options for ISDN, only 56k,ADSL and T1...
Unfortunetly for some of us DSL and wireless are not on the options list so it's either 56k or ISDN...
