I heard this song when I was about 5 years old and stumbled upon it now again (30 years later). I couldn't understand the lyrics then; it was just very catchy and I've never forgotten it.

After much Googling, all I know is that "Is it an ism or is it art" was released by South African Niki Daly in 1984.

Does anyone have more info on the song like where it was recorded? Who were the musicians? Who was the female vocalist?

Was looking for the lyrics to send to someone and came across this post that was never answered. I know it was released on Warner and produced with Tully McCully (of McCully Workshop fame). Daly went into publishing and also became a successful children's story writer.

TBH I might be talking partially out of my arse, never had any but a few radio stations pick up out here, all SABC stations, and even they were better back then.
