Hey Guys.

I Have a Q6600 at the moments, overclocked to 3.2 ghz stable. now i have a AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition. still brand new lying around. got it in a trade, only thing is, i dont have a spare AM3 mobo lying around.

would it be worth the upgrade, from the q6600 to the Phenom ??I know the phenom is stock 3.2 ghz, and is a newer cpu, with the L3 Cache and what not. should i get a AM3 Board ( well ones i can still get hold of )

Or, leave things as they are, and sell the Phenom ?

Hmmm... decisions....

Phenom should be faster but whether it's worth spending 1k on a mobo or 700 bucks i am not so sure.

You might be better of selling all the part and buying a cheaper sandy bridge cpu with new mobo.

Well thats the thing, i aint sure what i can get ? i know the Am3 boards are slowly been phased out, and really Dont want to spend too much on a board. But then the new Boards have usb 3, aswell as Sata 3. i know i can get pci-e cards for that, but thats money i can put towards the AMD Board, haha... maybe i should get a decent-ish board, and build a LAN Box...

I would make a nice HTPC with any spares, hardly worth selling old PC components.

Well if you can put a new CPU on the board you have then do it.

Sell the AMD one and the Q6600

The board i have currently is a 775, So unfortunately... or fortunately wont be able to put a newer CPU on it other than the Q6600 i currently am running.

What do you use your pc for? If it's for like email, internet browsing and posting on mybb:p then upgrading to phenom is point less. But yes the phenom would be better preformance wise.
