Anyone else having erratic issues in the Lonehill JHB region? Seems like its been a couple of days now. Connection to international/local sites up one second down the next n up again, timeouts, slow speeds, seems like Ibust is all over the place. Logged a call 3days ago n well we all know how that goes.

You should phone again and ask to speak to Henry Dladla. Or leave a complaint on HelloPeter and let them call you. Henry is a person who actually does his job. ;)

Yep, pretty much sums up my experience (off Kyalami BS).

Shocking again today.

How can this be? The network status and incident pages reflect no problems... :(

From my normal test ping pack.

This morning:

----83.138.189.100 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 56 packets received, 15% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 240/264/290

Now:

----83.138.189.100 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 3 packets received, 95% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 260/276/300

----196.4.160.2 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 26 packets received, 60% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 60/67/80

----196.30.31.120 PING Statistics----
66 packets transmitted, 66 packets received, 0% packet loss
round-trip (ms) min/avg/max = 60/73/170

They seem to have sorted it out now (again).

Was doing some deeper investigation, looks like my problem was that Kyalami Castle BS was intermittently disappearing for me (BS 16 not showing in rfScan and alignedBscc was latching onto some other BS). Since I'm using a directional flat panel anntena, I dont have enough signal to connect to any other BS (most are relections anyway).

I was using ADSL today and yesterday, it was down twice and international went half dead yesterday. :( Not that impressive. While iBurst and ADSL share the same international connection those problems wil be the same on both, its just SAIX's international line.

My connection (iBurst) seems fine atm though.

No point in blaming the backhaul ISP’s; we are not paying them for connectivity, seems someone needs to explain to iBurst what the word contingency means , but then they are most probably to cheap for that...

Yet our ISP's pay them so that we may have connectivity. ;) There's nothing iBurst can do if SAIX or Verizon is up to ****. ;)

Not so:

I’ve as yet not found all three backhaul’s to experience connectivity issues all at the same time, roll your eyes all you like, its poor service, to say the least.

...but they can switch backhaul ISP's they make use of SAIX, Verizon and IS so why not switch if SAIX has an issue, to save your reputation and frustration for your customers?

This is what I was wondering, they have switched randomly before, so why is it not possible to switch at useful times? Although it is possible they have and that is why we don't notice, but I doubt it.

It would be a step up from Telkom for international at least, we seem to be using only SAIX here.

They had problems with one of their cache servers a few days ago, but they phoned me and assured me that it has been fixed.

PS: Suddenly I have a constant 100% signal strength after moving my modem about 2cm to the left of my window. :D

Fourways area

I have been getting very bad reception for the last 2 to 3 days in the Fourways area. Since all the rain earlier this week. Anybody else having problems in this area?
