Or has MyGaming become a bit tabloid-ey lately? Bait titles, unnecessarily controversial articles, insistence on covering rubbish topics simply because they're controversial, etc.

I respect what they're trying to do, but it seems like they don't really care about the quality of their journalism, as long as it just rakes in the page views. They're like the yellow press of gaming journalism in South Africa.

It's essentially a mygaming spam forum, nothing much to see here and I don't often visit this part of the forum.

No, I don't mean this forum, I mean the MyGaming site itself. They crosspost all their articles here, but for the past year or so it seems there's been a dramatic increase in sensationalist/bait articles on their site. I still regularly visit their site to check for interesting gaming news, but lately I just browse through the front page and leave without reading anything because most of it is either irrelevant or clickbait.

I miss Tinman's MyGaming. :(

edit: Heh, I think from now on I'll start posting decent gaming news here. If MyGaming isn't going to cover news worth covering, someone else might as well. :P

It is a basic copy writing technique. I suspect the person in charge of it currently has a background in copy writing.

Edit: Or has instruction to drive subscriptions for the site.

The MyGaming forum is cool

EDIT: why are you posting about it here, why not on there?

I'd get yelled down if I posted it there. Their community is predominantly comprised of 'younger' folks, to put it mildly.

I get all my gaming news from joystiq and kotaku anyway, even there you get tabloidy articles though
