Is it possible MTN are ignoring my data bundle?

I decided (on 1 September iirc) to activate on my MTN AnyTime350 contract a 1GB PSD Data Bundle. However I am starting to suspect that MTN is still charging me for the data that I am using at the out-of-bundle rate of R2/min while also charging me for the 1GB data bundle.

Since I got my Nexus One (I think I have been average somewhere between 500MB and 1GB). However since adding this bundle, what they are invoicing me would suggest that I am doing over a gig.

Let me explain, my Sep 21 invoice showed (amounts excl VAT) charges of R578.68 for data calls and R253.51 for the PSD 1GB Data bundle. Using the out-of-bundle rate of R1.75 (excl VAT); this would mean in September I used about 1.3GB.

Similarly, my Oct 21 invoice shows R1353.77 and R253.51 for data calls and PSD bundle respectively. This would mean total data used of about 1.7GB.

I don’t have itemised billing on the account so I have had to raise a query with them. When I just got back to them abiut this the call center operative said that from their side they think everything is in order regarding the September invoice (I only looked at the October invoice after speaking to the call center).I have asked them to send me their logs for each of these months. Has anyone else experienced a similar situation before?

Yes, it happened to my father a couple years ago; he was paying for a data bundle every month, it appeared on his invoice and MTN Active, but was charged out-of-bundle rates the entire time. Snakepit managed to get the whole mess sorted out and a refund.

Gotta wonder how many average Joes out there are getting taken for a ride.

IMO, that's theft- should be prosecutable. Blaming it on a 'system error' isn't good enough!

I recently got 150MB with the iPhone 4. For some very weird reason, they do not load the 150MB....I've been screaming and shouting!

Scream and shout. Demand a refund for any data billed at R2/meg.

I can't wait for this consumer protection act!

Some numpty trying to tell me that data is charged at the oob rate until my voice package is depleted then my data bundle kicks in. MTN lacks anything resembling customer service.

Hopefully my email to the CEO will yield results.

This now beyond outrageous. They are still insisting data is not applied against a bundle first.

I guess it is ASA & ICASA time

They've finally admitted the errors of their ways. I think the kicker may have been cc'ing Karel Pienaar in my correspondence as well as demanding their ombudsman details and asking for a quote to cancel my contract.
