I ordered adsl about 1.5 months ago using the online form, after which a lady contacted me to have my details verified. They then called me to set up an appointment, and a week later my adsl line was active.

Then a lady phoned and asked me if my adsl installation went fine, and I said yes it's great, but could you please tell me my Telkom account number, since I need it to log on to the telkom self-service site in order to check my balance and pay the actual account. No she can't give it to me, but it will appear on my telkom bill in the mail.

I still haven't received anything in the mail, so I still don't have an account number. I can't link anything on the self-help site and I have no idea to whom I have to pay what. Through this whole process nobody has ever mentioned anything about payment details, like it's some kind of mystery to be solved by the customer and the key to unlocking it may or may not arrive via snail mail.

Today I got an sms from 011 845 3385: "Our records indicate tel no ********** is in arrears with R1900. Please pay immediately to avoid suspension. I replied asking what my account number is, but it's probably an automated sms.

I hope I manage to find out HOW to pay telkom before they decide to suspend me. Or maybe I should just order a new service every two months until they provide me with a means to pay them.

If you phone 10210 and go through to the accounts department they should be able to tell you your account number through your telephone number.

I also wanted to go with telkom as an isp, but after my line had been installed I realised it would be a lot quicker and more convenient to sign up with an ISP that has an online sign up process, so I created, paid and started using a new afrihost account in less than 10 minutes. I'm sure imaginet/openweb etc provides the same convenience. The only company that doesn't make it easy to pay them seems to be telkom.

Telkoms billing is unbelievably stupid. Call 10210 then press 1 and then 4. You can dispute the amount with them as well if you need to.

Called 10210 and the guy said I don't need an account number. (although I can't link my account on their site without an account number)

he gave me a 19 digit reference number. So I assume I have to pay the amount to some kind of telkom bank account using that reference number? This is like dealing with an online retailer that's run by a skulie guy out of his garage.

Same boat here, when I got my line installed I asked that my Invoices be emailed and my payment be Debit Order. After waiting a while, I phone and:

A) My Invoices were being posted, which I never got.
B) My Account was Cash, not Debit Order.

I phoned 10210 and they told me my account number. Using the link from MickZA, I created an online account and linked my Telkom Account. I now get emailed my Invoice and changed it to Debit Order.

Or you could just walk into a Telkom store and speak to the guys there.

Why must you go to a Telkom store to sort out their problems? Telkom run the phones, so they must make it easy for you. If they don't, then it is their lookout. Do not spoon-feed them or nothing will be done

Same happened to me,didnt get a bill for 7 months way back

Register online to pay or use the reference number in online banking, the banks have telkom as public recipient

I had the same problem with the online billing system.
I couldn't see my statements online after i'd registered and didn't want to pay until i'd verified the amount.
Eventually i phoned the number that is on their online site and was talked through making changes to my account settings that allowed me to see the invoice (it doesn't default to viewing bills online). I still had to phone 10210 to get my account number for EFT though.

Use internet banking and select Telkom from the available businesses stored on the system (at least they are for Standard Bank) and use that reference number they gave you as your payment reference when you pay.

I had the same issue but when I called them they said I had to wait 48 hours in order to see my statements. Waited 48 hours and its working, I can pay the invoice via https://ebpp.telkom.co.za/bxce/ibpp/ibpp.jsp

You don't usually add companies like Telkom as you would for normal beneficiaries as the large corporates are already preloaded and you just have to select them from a drop down menu/list. The only thing you require is the unique identifier made up of several numbers on your bill,

All three those numbers strung together without spaces will make up the number you have to add to your online banking thing. That would be the same as the 19 digit number you were given.
