This client of mine brought in a laptop.THis is why it came in.
He said he never used his laptop for 2 weeks, and when he tried putting it on it was just dead...
Its a green320..not much on the net about it..that could be a problem for me:D

I think its 4 to 6 years old.Can a cmos battery cause this. The battery is fine and when i plug in the charger the light on the laptop blinks once and then dead:(nudda nothing..What are your views.

I think he dropped it down a 12-story building and neatly cellotaped it back together so you wouldn't see it. Then he'd tell you he didn't use it for two weeks and then it was dead.
:D

Leave it connected to the charger overnight and see if it helps.

Replacing the battery can be a bit of a mission...but it depends on the laptop design.

tried that to and changes memory .Checked almost all common problems except looking on the circuit board under the power female plug:D

Possible motherboard failure... It must have been dropped, or irregular power dips / spikes could also have made some damage to the notebook... Recommend an immediate replacement...

Did you say you tried physically removing the battery for 10 mins then putting it back in again and then starting up? Sometimes these laptops get a battery "lock" and you have to remove the battery for a few mins.

PC Support Troubleshooting Guide for Dummies

Lesson number 1 - The golden rule of PC troubleshooting: Users always lie, and they will always tell you they have done nothing to cause the problem.

Lesson number 2 - If a PC is more than 3 years old it is probably worth no-ones time. You will spend more time breaking it than fixing it.

:D

Seriously though a cmos battery won't kill a PC, the BIOS would just keep resetting to default but the PC should still start up with power attached. BIOS itself could be the cause though. If that is the case then good luck amigo! :)

In my laptop experience a laptop can always be turned on even without a battery provided there is power attached. So take the battery out and try again with only power attached.

Press the power button with a little force.

If you can open the laptop up with confidence check that little button on the board where the power button should be. Try pressing it with a little aggression and a little force and see what happens. Don't press too hard though obviously :p Sometimes you need not open the laptop, there is like a strip/covering over the lights and power which you can just unclip to check under the power button. I know Dell laptops are like this.

Check for any noticeable damage and/or spillages.

When you say the light flickers as soon as you plug in the power cable, which light are you referring to? This could be normal afaik.

Take notice if it does switch on even for a second, like try listening out for some sound like a fan spinning. There are fans in laptops :p

Lastly give it a kick and see what happens :)
