Is it safe to run Cat5e UTP cable like this?

I want to run a lan cable on my roof linking the 2 sides of my house but there is a power cable on there as well. The lan and power cable will be in a PVC pipe but they will need to cross once. Will the PVC pipe be enough to stop interference?

I take it you will have the lan cable in its own PVC pipe ??
If you do pick up interference just use tin foil around the PVC pipe where the electricity and the lan are close together, and no PVC will not stop induced interference.
If you just going to lay the lan cable over the PVC electricity pipe and you pick up interference just put foil over the lan cable where it is close to the electricity.

I would rather use STP in its own PVC conduit and then remember shielded plugs on the ends

But I've run UTP with power once and didn't see any degraded performance @ 100mbps

By cross once you mean they are only next to each other in one spot?

Should easily be fine. If you are in the highveld you're going to get grief from current induced via lightning though.

Hi There,
Yes it should be fine. I don't think that you will have too many issues unless of course lightning decides to hit it

I have cat5 crossing power cables multiple times without any issues. The cable I have running across my roof has been there for 10 years, and is totally unprotected without conduit and has probably melted onto the tiles. It only connects at 10mbps now but it still works lol :D

Thanks everyone. Is this good quality cable? Which jacket is better PVC or PE? What's the maximum a cable can bend?
