I do things a bit differently I have a windows machine which is on a 500gb SSD. I store almost nothing on this drive other than a few docs and some easy to re-download and install programs.
I have my kali linux on another drive which I use as a vm, easy to just copy paste so it's up to date when inevitably break it, this just goes with the work I do. I also run windows on a vm on a windows computer which sounds strange but it leaves me with options. Running kali as my main operating system would be a disaster.
I then have another drive where all my games are stored. You just link steam/blizzard to a folder.
When I feel windows has gone for a ball I copy the docs folder and do a format reinstall, I'm back up and running in an hour or two. Lastpass helps save time.
