I don't mind doing a 5k, but my running group wants to start doing 10k, and I really don't like them.. :(

I saw this title and my first thought was the tour de france! :D I think it's over rated and pls what's so great about france, smelly cheese, hairy woman, garlic snails and frogs legs and over ripe grape juice.

longer races are normally about pacing yourself better.
Personally I prefer the slightly longer stuff, better feeling of accomplishment afterwards.

You clearly dont understand cycling then.

You mean you enjoy it when you stick an uncomfortable object between your butt, you then pedal up and down hills for days, often with other people who also have an uncomfortable object stuck up thier butts, these people crash in to you and then you end up in an even more uncomfortable mess but now your face is smeared on the asphalt.

There is an awesome 15k tomorrow at Fairbridge Mall. I have done it before and this year it will be my birthday present to myself.

When it comes to running I do anything up to half marathon, 10~15k is the sweet spot for me both on and off road. Mountain biking I'll do anything up to 90k if it has technical bit but dirt roads will see me up to 240k on a day.

I don't really hate a race, except maybe for over crowded ones liked the Spar Ladies race.

Up until this year I had a strong dislike in any race that originates from Durbanville Race Course. I had a few nasty ones there. But this year I did the 99er and it is a nice race.

Any idea what the route is, or whether they'll block off the roads?
Hope the weather clears up for ya'll.

Did it last year in rainy weather - it is pretty early so traffic should not be affected. I think it starts at 7:15 and a good runner will take about 1h15 to complete it.

Here is the route of it I tracked last year:

Longer races get better TV coverage since the broadcaster can plan the viewing spots better
