Is Johannesburg going bust?

I didn't know that FNB stadium was now empty. It was never empty before the World Cup upgrade why should it be empty now?

I don't mean physically empty, although that may well be the case most of the time - I mean it's obviously not making enough income, hence TAXPAYERS are coughing up for it. It's pure white elephant.

Are you still insisting that this stadium was the best investment for the money?

Maybe CoJ should think about appointing Grant Thornton as auditors - they sprouted lyrical about the wonderful tourism figures for the WC. If they supported the government's view it can't be too much of a stretch to get another report that supports the view of the City officials.

FNB stadium is not making money? How many games have been played there in the last 12 months after the World Cup? There have also been music concerts, political rallies, religious congregations, etc that were held there. I cannot imagine that it is a white elephant...

So explain why the article is saying a billion rand of city budget is paying for this "success".

So the city spent R1billion to complete the stadium and only 18 months down the line you expect all that money to have been recouped? Get real.
