For price and specs is this what we buy?

I have a samsung au7000 currently. Apart from hdr being too dim, the colors seem too pink. I do have some color blindness but compared to my old 1080p tv, this looks below standard.

Would appreciate some objective opinions

The AU700 is obviously entry level, you shouldn’t really expect any HDR from it, the colours seem pink probably due to the fact that Samsung over-saturates Colors to give the picture more pop to attract the average joe.

The C1 is a beast and yes it is the best TV you can buy right now.

It probably is as far as performance goes but I still don’t trust that burn in is a solved issue. I will wait for more time to pass and more hard evidence.

For now I would go for the higher end Samsung neo-QLED tvs , they get much brighter, have no risk of burn-in, picture quality is close enough and at least the QN90 I saw doesn’t have the terrible over-saturation @epah is talking about, as far as I can tell.

Look at the QN90 side by side with another tv, you will see the colours on the Samsung look a bit more artificial, LCD really is old technology, to buy one over an OLeD right now would not be a smart choice to make, Burn-in was a problem on older Oleds, a lot has been included to mitigate the issues now, I am not saying it’s impossible though.

OLed picture quality is superior to LCD and you still need to deal with the blooming issues with LCD, kinda takes away from the scene in especially very dark scenes.

If it were my money I would take the C1 and never look back.

Burn-in has been absolutely resolved. I game and watch DSTV for hours on end on a CX and C1 and have no issues. Obviously you wouldn't use them as permanent computer monitors.

There is a burn-in test on Rtings, you should take a look. It will calm your fears.

Burn-in was not even a problem on modern plasmas. It's really a myth now.

I have been using it as a PC monitor. No issue yet and it has been 18months-ish.

LG C1 is supposed to be the be all and end all of tvs. However the rtings rating is great, not spectacular. Hdr brightness is just good but not spectacular? Its expensive for good

Look, you have an eye for quality, that I know and I’d trust your judgement on that any day. It’s just that personally I’d deal with a bit of blooming in exchange for peace of mind.

Not to be rude but this n=1 anecdotal evidence means very little to me. Other forum members said the same thing before it happened to them. If I take your word for it, I could just as well listen to Linus, who says the opposite.

Has it been updated? Last I checked, they confirmed that burn in was inevitable, just that their particular sets at specific settings would take a relatively long time to be affected. Other panels are affected sooner and some later, panel lottery?

I have a CX and that's not 'bright' according all these reviewers. Either I have very sensitive eyes, but my eyeballs are seared by the brightness of this TV when at night and it's brilliant during day too (with curtains open)

Seriously I honestly don't know why brightness is such a big thing for reviewers. Do they want it to be brighter than the sun?

Oh and the C2 is much brighter than the CX

My next TV will be another OLED

That is because it is an OLED, unfortunately they don’t get as bright as LCD, another reason for that is to obviously protect the self emissive pixels and also prevent burn in. LCDs are light cannons and no OLED can beat them in terms of brightness, however specular highlights will show better on the OLed due to its infinite contrast, with LCD unfortunately some of the LED light will bleed into areas that are supposed to be black when watching content so blacks will not be as inky. You also miss out on Dolby vision with Samsung, even though some people might tell you it is no different to HdR10, you will still have an itch for it.

The C1 55” actually isn’t expensive for what it is, no Tv is perfect Ofcourse but you need to decide on what you actually want from a TV.

So right. Samsungs are not terrible with colour accuracy in general but definitely not on the same level as Sony, Panasonic or LG.

HDtvtest is your man for reviews and tests.

Then nothing short of owning one will change your mind.

*shrug*

You still on about burn-in even in this thread?

LG sorted the burn-in issue a while ago. They have gotten so good at it that they even increased brightness on older OLEDs of theirs via firmware updates. The C1 is a fantastic TV. 2015 called and asked for their burn in back.

And stop listening to Linus. He’s a click bait shithead that rarely knows what he’s talking about

Get the C1. Don’t worry about burn-in. LG knows what their doing. And don’t listen to @Nike7 he has a oled hate boner and still lives in 2015
