Our one cat was unfortunately hit by a car a short while ago (2 weeks). Her brother, Hamlet, 3yrs old, is still with us.
We recently brought (3 days ago) a new kitten into the house. Poor Hamlet isn't taking to the changes very well at all. He is usually a very friendly and affectionate cat but since his sister died he has been pining for her, meowing an searching the house. He is also very aggro towards Sputnik (our youngest and newest 4 legged family member).
What can we do? Is he just adjusting ? Will he relax? How can we make it easier for him?
The animal ambulance paramedic vet (whatever they're called) brought Hamlet out to smell his sisters body before they took her away for cremation. Apparently this was so that he wouldn't pine - I dont think it worked though
Any ideas? It's so heartbreaking to lose a pet and even more so now to see how unhappy Hamlet is...
