Is my contract getting upgraded?

My data contract ended with MTN in September and I got a call on friday from Rewardsco (on behalf of MTN) to upgrade me to something cheaper with more data.

She also offered me a device. A iPhone 13 Pro. Which I accepted because I needed a new device. She said will process it and I will get an email as well. Its now monday and I dont have an email or any indication on MTN's mycontract website.

She did say that my phone will arrive in 1 and half weeks time.

But I would have expected to at least get an email saying my order is being processed or something?
 
Keep a close eye on debit orders. These 3rd party upgrades tend to add a whole lot of other subscriptions to your account.

It happened to my father in law. He was contacted by someone claiming to be from MTN. Renewed a R200 a month sim only contract. Debits of R500+ were going off. Took them 2 or 3 months to sort it out (cancel that contract and revert back to the old contract) and wasnt refunded for those sketchy debits.

I hope you don't think that iPhone 13 is free? You're paying for it with a more expensive contract.
 
Looks like im gonna call today. Is there another support number I can call besides 135?

So much for POPI

Don't trust these "agents" for cell providers they all try ripping you off
 
Okay. Just managed to cancel everything. Going with MTN direct.

Is iStore a better place to get the contract? If MTN has no stock
 
I’m also due for an upgrade. I am in the same boat and not sure whether to upgrade through iStore or MTN direct. Any advice?

Not sure. Just whatsapped someone from the MTN near me and they said they have no stock, and they know when they are getting stock
