Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Every time I play a game the PC will freeze and the only way to get it to respond is by restarting it. Could it be that my GPU is dying or some other component.
My pc specs are as follow:
CPU: Intel core i5 4570
RAM: 8GB Kingston hyperX
Graphics: AMD Radeon R7 265
Motherboard: Gigabyte H81M-S2PV
PSU: Corsair vs450

That doesn't show a whole lot, other then a blank screen.Sorry to sat looks like a PSU issue possibly however, PSU issue would generally restart a PC, it might be a case of the GPU not getting enough juice which results in a driver crash.

If you go to event viewer other the system tab you can quickly establish if you had a critical failure some where.

This is was a GPU artifact looks like, if you get some thing like this, then it's either overheating or dying. But a blank screen might quite possible be an issue of the PSU....

If it is the PSU then what would be a good reliable replacement under R1000?
I went looking for a PSU and found this http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html
but most of the power supplies in my budget range are in tier 4

Well before you go out and get a new PSU, head over to a friend or some one with another PSU to test first.Once you can rule that out you should fine, to go get another PSU.

The VS650 is just over 1k, FSP Hyper S 600watt is actually pretty decent, the have jacked up their act quite a lot, just over R800 which is great value. You could probably get away with another 450watt PSU or a 500watt, But leaves very little wiggle room for cap aging, 150- 200 watts extra is never a bad idea ;)

You definitely need to swap out hardware and test to confirm exactly what is going on.PSU issue would generally reset a PC completely, instead of hanging on a black screen but entirely possible.

So two options to find out exactly what the problem is would be swapping out the GPU and PSU with another you have spare or borrowed. You really can't say what the problem is, and you will find best guesstimates in this thread.

It might cost you a couple of bucks but take it to matrix warehouse and they will be able to tell you exactly what the issue is, they aren't my fav retailers, but least they have the hardware to swap out and test with ;)
