Is my inverter configuration correct, can I switch to parallel?

My current setup:
  • 2x 12v 80Ah 1kWh Lithium Batteries (configured in series)
Inverter:
  • 2000VA/1200Watt - 24Volt/220Vac 50hz
Inverter switches:
  • 20A or 10A charger (set to 20A)
  • Wide or Narrow (set to Narrow)
The load is:
  • Desktop Computer (850watt PSU)
  • Mac Laptop
  • 2x Monitors
  • TV (100w)
  • Router/Some lights

Everything is running fine, but only lasts about 3.5hrs - would I be able to switch the batteries to parallel to get more runtime out of them? Would the lower voltage work in this scenario?

You have a 24V inverter.

Putting your batteries in parallel would not start up your inverter as it would be running in 12V

Your batteries in series or parallel will give you the same amount of Watt Hours

12 x 160 = 1920
24 x 80 = 1920

In order for you to get more run time, you need to either cut down your load or get 2 more 80ah batteries (just double check if you battery manufacturer is happy with that, as the BMS can only support a certain number of batteries before your warranty is voided)
