Hi all,
Telkom installed my line on Staurday morning, and I am all up and running 18 days from order date. Thanks to Shelvin Chetty!!!
What I would like to know is if my setup is correct, and is it secure. My knowledge on wireless is now slightly above 0% :)

OK, my setup is a Linksys WRT54G router with a Linksys ADSL2MUE modem. I have left the default IP on the modem as 192.168.1.1, set it to "Bridged" mode, and disabled the DHCP server.
On the router I changed the IP to 192.168.1.2, enabled DHCP server, SSID broadcast is enabled and set to "F@$K OFF", set security to WPA with a 25 character key and enabled MAC filters with only my GF's laptop MAC listed.

This is with the modem plugged into the WAN port on the router. What I also tried was plugging the modem into one of the LAN ports, which then allowed my to configure the router and modem from any of the PC's. With my current configuration, I have to plug a cable into the modem to configure it.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of the two senarios above.

Most importantly, is my network secure enough to keep MOST "War Drivers" out? ;)

I would advise to disable SSID broadcast. Set the SSID to something unique, and type it in manually (on the client) whenever you want to connect a wireless client.

The setup must look like this:
LAN <-> Router <-> Modem <-> ADSL Line

Do not connect the modem to the router LAN port, but rather the WAN port. If connected to the LAN port the router/firewall will be bypassed.

I dont like using a DHCP server - especially at home where I know exactly what computers should be on the network. If someone does crack the WPA and spoof the MAC I'm still not going to just give them an IP. Besides - with OsX its easier if you know the IP for all the XP PCs. (It defeats the purpose if I have to get up and check the pc's IP address when I want to use remote desktop connection!)

If I disable DHCP, then I imagine I would set the routers IP as the gateway on the PC's? Is that correct?
