I checked out the NeoConnect pricing and found the R999 p/m package that states UNLIMITED data use. Is this true? Can I subsequently download as many mp3's as I want? Download the complete seventh season of 24, which totals over 10GB? Download an unlimited amount of torrents? etc, etc? Can I really download as much as I like until I turn blue, for R999 p/m? And at what data rates?

There are more than enough threads and posts on this site for you to discover that when you are connected you get speeds that would make a snail blush.

Data rate at 30kbs for most of us now as there are serious problems with some of the base stations - read the threads about speed degradation !

To date my b/w monitor reflects that I've dloaded 50gigs. I'm on the Prime package from Feb. I dload through Rapidshare, I've given up on torrents a long time ago. If you r in a good or excellent coverage area then all's good for you to dload until u blue in the face :p

Dont' count on it, its almost 2 months now without any joy!!!

It's rapidshare that I'm talking bout. U downloaded 50GB in one month? Amazing! And I'm sure Neotel will sort out the speed degration issue soon.

Yep, I'm sure it'll be soon. My average dload speed as per speednet is about 1.4mb. My main PC used to be on 24/7 when I was on iburst, now there's no real need - once dloads r complete, watch dvd or burn to dvd.

Nothing to dload tonight

Lucky you. I'm still rolling with iBurst and after the end of 2007, everything went down hill for me as they brought in that stupid service called shaping :( forcing me to leave my pc on the whole time and paying for free services, i.e.download sites to pause and resume downloads.

Get your ports opened, no shapping, no cap.

When the speed was still up there I was downloading 100gb a month.

Now down to around 50gb per month.

I've got Neotel, and the speed is horrific. Supposed to be a 2.4mbs connection, feels like less than a 384k dsl line.

Hope they get their degradation issues sorted out asap!

:(

It's kind-of incredible how much people differ regarding whether Neotel is worth joining or not, fast or slow, constantly disconnecting or not, etc. I read through most of these forums and the majority opinion seems to be that it is terribly slow. But I still ordered my NeoConnect Prime unlimited on Monday. If it is as terribly slow as many people say, then I'll just buy the rest of the device and ditch my contract. Expensive experiment, but probably worth it if I might get unlimited internet out of it. To be a bit fair, though, I think that they admit that NeoConnect is theoretically capable of 2.4m, but that it usually runs between 300k-700k, so if I get the same speed as a 384k line, I wouldn't be horrified.

So how is Neotel these days??

P2P/SKype/Average download speeds/Daily download averages.

Is there any true cap or Acceptable usage policy???
