Luckily SAIX informed IS about this, and IS informed us and we were well prepared. NOT !

I know that IS requested a peering upgrade about a month ago - mebbe this is it - that yould be cool - pity about the lack of warning.
or
Let me guess - a truck rode over the cable and ...

[edit] Oh well, nothing bad about excessive info lol

Supposed Eskom failure in Rosebank which brought SAIX & I.S down too their knees.

What happened to diesel generators? Hmm.. perhaps only UUNET make use of these :)

by reading mccracks post, its Eskoms
As Clipse said, what happened to their generators? No I definately think this was something more serious

I think it was some cables, that got pulled.. I just dont know which direction.

Clipse, why dont you remove you signiture that states dont use SAIX,

Firstly: It damages any fair competition for other ISP's

Secondaly: Your choice of ISP's cannot provide a service at the moment !

So please amend you signniture.

lol are there anything such as fair competition in the isp circle look at what telkom/saix is doing.

Secondaly :P Did u notice once IS is down most local sites dont even work anywayz

Does IS have a noticeboard similar to SAIX ?
Would be nice to know what happened from the mouth of IS ?

Please dont take my last comment as an insult, I just think to be fair that we should not be running adverts in our sig's as peope pay for normal adds.

Please read my signature again, Unshaped SAIX accounts is a waste of money, Im warning people. Why should any uninformed user waste their hard earned money on something they can get by using shaped SAIX and our service for much less?

Your analogy suggests that people shouldnt moan about pricing and just accept it whatever the case may be.
