Just to clarify something.

Any ISP that uses IS as their backbone will be subject to IS's top 20% shaping policy. Whether you are on a shaped or unshaped account?

If that's the case, whats the benefit of using any ISP that runs on the IS backbone. I realise that price, support etc are important but hey, you can dress up a turd, but it is still a turd.

Freaken hell, downloading on a 4mb line at 10kb/s is just not fun anymore.

It's not all the accounts. Only the cheaper ones.

I'm using an ISP that uses IS. I'm most likely in the 20%. Not happy. Which ISPs don't use IS?

Just make sure you read thier T&C's with a fine tooth comb. They're nowhere near as draconian as IS when it comes to what constitutes abuse but they'll also terminate your contract without a second thought if you fall on the wrong side of that line.

I am looking at the 4mb unshaped/uncapped option which I think wouldn't fall into the "cheaper" options. I was looking at MWEB as well but have been advised to look at Openweb Gold unshaped/uncapped account. I actually am not sure which way to jump.

Definitely OpenWeb.

well from using a Unshaped 4Mb line at work I can say MWEB is good
haven't had them complain about that usage at all and that line get klapped 24/7

Openweb is more stable when it comes to gaming, Mweb fails in that regard.
