IS NEWS server help

Hey,
I'm trying to download a game from the is news server, but in the jobs list after a while i keep on getting messages saying the job has failed to connect or failed to download. I have downloaded files before, and they worked fine. The game is cached too.
Please help.

Well my connection has been up and down and I couldn't connect yesterday. Having said htat I've only been able to download at about 10kbs for most nbz files. Don't know if it's something my side or the program I use or what. (Grabit.)
 
I think grabit is fine, but i also get slow downloads, then it gets faster, sometimes full speed at the beggining, then going to 12kb/s later, and jumping around... :S
 
You'll probably get more help at the newshost website.
 
LOL, you do realise that Telkom has discovered the solution to pirating, it's cheaper to buy that game or movie than to download it. Hell, it might even be cheaper to make it than to download it.
 
The newsserver has been up and down the whole day, with some theads being unable to connect.

Also, rather use the newshost website to discuss topics like this. It's the whole reason they have a forum.
 
By the way guys. Why is the IS news server so slow? Isn't there something that they can do about it? That's not a good service man! They have the news server so that they can sell there 30GB local accounts to consumers. But the thing runs like ####!
 
There are other uses for cheap local bandwidth, they don't use NNTP as a selling point.

Users promoting it seem to use it as a selling point, not IS.

Cached content is quick. Uncached isn't. It's as simple as that.
 
You could always sign up to a real news provider, preferably overseas - easynew/giganews. imo IS's newsgroup hosting really sux.
 
hmmm... lets talk about it more, downloads on anything used to go at 100K, then it started on here down to 20K,... now more ppl talk abt it, we on 9K, soon we'll be getting 1Kb/s each if you wanna keep asking questions on a public forum.
 
yea well im happy with 10-12 k i get and the 300kbs on cache

i get my 40 gigs a month

ppl always moan about the news server speed, but how much pirating could we do without it? and at what cost
