Is ordering your adsl line with an isp a bad idea?

Ordered adsl with axxess after telkom installed my land line. Figured it would save me some money, but im still waiting for them to activate the adsl. Very slow process it seems. Been waiting a while. I've heard from some people that its better to let telkom do rather. Is this true? Do isp's not handle lines that well, or telkom treat them as second rate?

There are at least two benefits (if you are going capped) with Axxess.
It is slightly cheaper to bundle the ADSL line with the ISP than going with Telkom directly.
If you bundle your ADSL with a capped account, you'll be able to roll over you unused data for a maximum of 3-months

I prefer to keep my line directly with Telkom because it is easier to move between ISP's should the service levels drop.

In my opinion, its a bad idea.
No ISP is top dog forever. And there is no loyalty in waiting months for your ISP to try and fix its issues. I prefer to stick to month to month, and move when the going gets rough.
That being said, I have been using WebAfrica capped for about 2 years now.

You can have another ISP for your data and still have Axxess manage your line though. Other ISPs is not blocked, you just loose out on the bundle rate. Generally, you save R25 pm with the coupled line and data, the jump is quite big for 20mpbs line with R75, which was enough for me to stick to CW having my line as well for that saving.

Do note, it is a slep to move between ISP with the new holding pool and the regulations around it.

I wanted to also ask if combo'ing your line still gives you the double data promotion? They dont specifically mention it on there website, and it seems that its cheaper sticking to 50+50gb than going the 100gb route in combo form. Can anyone clarify?

It should, they tend to offer more benefits to their bundled clients.
