I bought it yesterday and now have some buyers regret. I don't know if it's worth it, but thinking plex can only get better and that I should rather buy it now before there is a price hike?

Thinking of buying as well. I think it increased a few years ago to its current price and will most likely increase again. The rand is also having an impact on what I buy that is priced in $. I should just take the leap this week and buy it.

What does it give you that's worth R1800 as opposed to the free version?

I got the app for android for free on the Amazon App Store. Barely ever use it on my phone even though I have a Plex server set up. I use Kodi mainly on my Fire TV, though I do have Plex installed.

It used to be worth it when it was like $70 (IIRC), just to support the development and get the bonus stuff. But now it's way too much to pay if you aren't gonna be using it full time.

The nice thing about Plex Pass is it lets you stream from your sever to anywhere in the world. Sadly with our slow internet you're unlikely to benefit from this.

Next question - what's the point of the app if you can stream it via your browser?

Looking forward to reviewing the value once my license expires

I got it when it was still at $75

At that price, it's a steal, but I operate 4+ Plex servers, so perhaps I'm not a typical use case.

I got it the day they launched it. Was $50 or something. Can't remember. But well worth it.
We depend on Plex in our house (no more DSTV).

We run plex as well. What I don't get is what the advantage of the paid version is.

No, I don't think it is worth it. Way too expensive for what you actually get.

Plex Pass is really worth it when Elan, the lead developer, gives you a lifetime Plex Pass for free.

Yup. And that's me. 5 Roku's. Mobile device. Chromecast.
Throw in the offline sync and you have a winner. I would pay purely for offline sync.

I paid for the plex app for my Roku(s) - I believe it was $5 for as many as were linked to my account. They want $5 for the iOS app as well, regardless of if I buy a subscription or not so there's no benefit there at all.

I guess I need to decide if offline sync is worth R1800.

I got an invite to buy the plex premium sub for 75 dollars until end July.
Is there anything else other than offline sync that makes the upgrade worthwhile?? I'm a single plex server house, Apple TV and a few phones. And I don't see a benefit, however a once off fee seems that I could use it in the future, and this is a steal in today's prices go

I hardly use any of the premium services, but it felt right to support the developer's considering I use plex daily.

Is it $75 for a lifetime subscription?

You got me there. I signed up for this reason. And maybe 1 day I will use one of the features... or perhaps my kids will as they grow up.
