I develop websites. From my Sentech connection at home I am still seeing yesterday's versions of the websites I'm developing. I have cleared my browser cache and double-checked the servers - if I use a cloaking/proxy service or an mweb dialup connection, I get the current releases of the sites. Which can only mean that Sentech's proxy is misconfigured?? Anybody else having problems like this?

I doubt it's misconfigured, it's just configured differently.
For instance Mweb might have there proxy do an etag check everytime a page is requested and see if it is updated. If it is new then you get the new page and the proxy cache is updated. If the etag says it's old then you get the proxy cache version.

Sentech might have decided to not do that or only do checks every x hours (so it must sit in the cache for a certain period).

Different proxies with different options <> misconfigured

But then again I have not seen that problem myself with the websites I work on. But then again I do maybe one update a day at most. So maybe it sits in the cache long enough in my case.

I had this problem on a diginet line a few years back with datapro - they had a misconfigured proxy server that wasn't updating. I was getting wired.com news from 2 weeks back as the new site :D

Err.... Sentech had OPEN proxies for MONTHS. I wouldn't put it beyond them, to have the CLOCK's wrong on their proxies either... So....

ic, even a site with moderate traffic needs a fixed ip to resolve dns, not so?
