Given that we are paying for a service that just doesn't work ,and on top of that we have to pay Telkom for the line that connects to nowhere, IS seems to be the problem child here.

And if you cant give the service that you have charged for and still take the money , you should be taken to task

Cant open site after site after site ...international sites that is . Change over to SAIX and it all works ??? mmmm

If it was my settings , I would not post this type of comment . There is no need to change any settings ,SAIX or IS ,as the settings are auto in the DSL modem , and every time this type of nonsense happens we have people wanting to check your settings ...and every time its not settings on the client side its the darn ISP ...Now IS knows it has a problem ...just sort it out or get out

Well I don't have problems loading/finding sites with IS, so I figure your settings are probably poked.

yea your settings are wrong

whinning little girl you are

ive been IS local for a long time and i love never had a problem

sounds like moaning is your major problem

nc1-rba-2.cache.isnet.net here is where the problem is bumb ****

PEACE.
IS have buggered up a lot of things in the past and will probably continue to do so.
Unfortunately QLD , you seem to be the only one noticing the problem with that cache.
But .. thanks for the headz up, I would never have thought oh the cache as a problem source.
Did IS pickup the problem or was it your sleuthing?

I know just how you feel ...seems IS will only reset the cache on WED and if there is a problem on thursday well to bad they will only reset next wed ??

I wish they would do away with the cache and just let us get on with our lives without the problems.

Anyway good luck

I agree with the statement regarding IS. I have been experiencing dial-up like speeds ever since I bought an IS account, and this on a 4Mbit line. I just compared a single-threaded download of the same file from Microsoft via the IS and SAIX networks and the results were as follows:

IS: 5.80Kb/s
SAIX: 40.70Kb/s

I rest my case.

Well today went to a friend who has IS account at the office, uncapped fixed ip bla bla bla ..all settings not for end user ala cisco via IS and yes same problem . So if we going to say the problem is between the chair and the keyboard well who do we blame at this user ??

I now return to my PC, no settings or modems changed but now most of the sites are up again.. You IS has the problem and have no idea what broadband should be like . anyway seems that this site was put together to have a go at TELKOM and nobody should whine about IS .

So you folks have fun ,put up with sub standard adsl and enjoy your IS forum . I see some folk who seem to agree , and the others that think all is good well , I Guess IS pays your salary .
Over and out

i have also been having problems killadoob and wouldn't mind trying to change my settings if you tell me what to change and how...thanx

IS vs Telkom

We have IS backbone at work, must be a few 4 meg lines combined. SLOW as hell!! slow to react, slow to open sites, sometimes never does.
Telkom account, @#$% me, fast, reliable, never had a problem, day or night.

Had IS Uncapped ADSL + Static IP and the speeds are terrible.Pings of +- 1000ms.Now back on SAIX and its so much faster

Lol. Before making statements like that you might want to read the forum in a bit more detail. Yes some peeps lean more towards IS than Telkom, but they are the lucky ones from what I can gather.

Personally I won't touch an IS account with a barge pole, my reason is simple: I read this forum. Even though SAIX is Telkom and I hate Telkom with passion, at least they provide the most reliable access (and that does not say much for SAIX really) in my opinion. There are way more threads complaining about IS latency, speed and don't forget the much loved IS news server.

Yeah, I'm convinced now more than ever to move to SAIX.. but not sure who to go for, and I'm sad to have to leave OpenWeb behind.

IS is riddled with incompetency. I have been waiting for over a month for them to sort out an internal routing problem with their ADSL network.

In all my dealings with IS I have found that the people doing the technical work generally have no idea what they are doing.
