Anybody else having problems sending with IS's SMTP server: smtpauth.dial-up.net ?

Small mails are getting through but bigger files 2mb> arent.....

Calls to IS support are useless, I get the standard answer "I can telnet into your routers and the SMTP server fine...." thats great but I'm still left with the problem...

Have you reached your cap? As there was a problem with the servers accepting certain mail.

Nope

Hey Lupus,

Nope.. I'm routing all my SMTP and POP traffic through my IS uncapped lines...

I dunno bout that SMTP server, but I use this one:

smtp.isdsl.net

and it works just fine for me

no can do...

I use a load balancer which, at times, uses various ISP's ( SAIX, M-WEB and IS) get relay errors on all the other.

smtpauth is the only global one that accepts...

So, I can use "smtpauth.dial-up.net" as an SMTP server from any ISP ??? SAIX / IS ???

Yup...

Our problem was we were having relaying errors as well as staff needeing to send while out of the office and country.. Being unsure of their ISP this was the most globally accepted SMTP server.

It requires authentication tho...

Works like a dream, irrelevant of the ISP or country you are in...

Hi Mangoman20

Why dont you just ask the IS Support guys to look at the log files on their SMtp Server ,or check the outgoing mail queue.Or ask them to send a 5MB email thru that smtp server.(however sometimes the "Technical Support" are restricted by their "corporate firewalls".So you ask them to do pings, traceroutes etc they say the corporate firewall prevents us from doing this - well how the f**k can u help customers when you dont have access to various tools - it doesnt make sense to me

Of course I've tried all that, they werent able to give me any further information. I dont give a damn if they can ping my router in under 1ms or they can telnet in... Pinging and telnetting is not my line of business SMTP is ! I'm still waiting for an answer from them... very frustrating... They arent able to draw logs as it is a global server and the traffic is too high.. even more disappointing...

So now I sit and its just one of those that will be brushed under the carpet.. until next time....

Unfortunately this isn't in my department this falls under a different team so I cannot take a look what has been done to your ticket, though the first thing is that we cannot pull the logs of that smtp as it is a global smtp and does have a lot of traffic running through it, who were you dealing with here at IS?
