I was just on WebAfrica local for about 30 minutes or more, I couldn't access the forum at all.

I downloaded a view videos from DSTVondemand.com and again, I couldn't access it via local. I added the videos to my download manager on international, then switched to local to download it.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

I have noticed it coming and going the last week. I thought it was my computer or because I was maxing out my upload link... but it definitely was going offline for ten or more minutes at a time.

It's weird though :p I couldn't think of any other local sites to visit, but the forum wouldn't open at all, Firefox just said it wasn't found.

Oh well, another day in SAIX land, another problem :p

I just thought I was maxing out my upload and download links.. cos I had several programs running... but it had never done it before this week. Happened quite a lot though.

But what would cause that to happen to local only? My local was through M-web. I hope M-web is not having backhaul issues!

Only thing I can think of is peering issues again.

Are you on SAIX? Try using the cache.saix.net proxy...it tells me "couldn't find proxy"....weird :p

the SAIX proxy doesn't work for me on M-Web local... I think cos it is an international cache only. Can't feed international content to local requests! ;)

I spoke to soon, seems like it's working now :p It hasn't worked for me on local before either ;)

I had EXACTLY the same issue today. I also had to log in using International bandwidth and then fed the links for the file into my download manager after which I switched to local-only. Some video files like the Beijing opening ceremony just do not want to play or download at all, not matter what you do.

Something's up with M-Web's servers. I found that other sites also hosted by them had similiar issues.

So are you saying we should or should not be using OpenDNS with M-web?

OK, ja... I just tried it... and it doesn't work on local only.

So does M-web have their own DNS servers?

No they don't, they all use "poisoned" SAIX DNS servers. Makes me

found these DNS servers for M-Web in an old post... gonna give them a shot now..

M-Web Randburg = 196.2.16.3
M-Web Cape Town = 196.2.48.227

OK, still have the same problem... even when using those servers. :(
