Getting reports of total failure of uncapped ADSL from certain areas - any one know what is going on? IS claim a 2mb link has failed in Rosebank, but what services this affects is left for our imagination.

? Are you saying the 2mb fault is already 2 weeks old? Not that that would surprise me very much.

last night was the first time this month i got 39-40Kbs. and only for a few minutes

Not to burst your bubble ( ), but if you are using Newsbin Pro it can misreport speeds (I sometimes "get" 102Kb+ on my 384 line). It seems to happen most when I switch Speed Limit off, or Retry a download. This may be the reason for the "normal" speeds you got.

I use Grabit, and NetMeter.
Both their speed thingies show that slow speeds

I think it's for the same reason that you get that initial large burst of "speed" when you initiate an http download. It then stabilises to around what your speed should be. I switched from Grabit to Newsbin Pro, and what do you know - I'm getting full speeds again Grabit only supports multiple connections of different files, Newsbin supports multiple connections of the same file which can make a difference.

finally gave up and we got SAIX accounts to replace the IS account, just too damm slow, a pity.
