IS sucks!

I've recently gotten myself an IS account, and well, it sucks! I can't get on half of the international sites I want to. Are people having similar problems?

You probably have your dns setiings wrong - no problems here over the past days. I find IS pretty good - great throughput, no cap, only occasional drops.

Me too. I like IS...no problems here. Getting 150kb/s and up on my 4mbit line.

Lol.... i will admit after saix, you realise IS aint the greatest, though i was getting 320kB/s on my torrents this morning, now doesn't hit above 150kB/s.

on Saix i max 410 kB/s constant

On the other hand IS offers 30 gigs local bandwidth with their accounts, so they dont suck in that regard.
Downloading at full speed on a Saix account can work out to be very expensive, so Saix sucks in that regard.

Broadband internet in South Africa really sucks.

Indeed it does. The whole shaped/unshaped and local/international differentiation is insane.

I agree that the problem is with broadband in SA period! To say IS sucks is to imply that saix does not? IS uses satellites for international connections,because telkom has control of SAT-3, so as we have learned in communications101 weather conditions are really a huge factor in the effectiveness of the connection, same thing on DSTV if its raining hard some channels aren't viewable!

So if IS suck that much move along buddy! get yourself a hard-capping-shaped-to-death SAIX account please! Rather complain about the state of broadband in general in SA!

The problem is fully utilising it. Indeed it does.

Well I was a couple of gigs over my local cap last month, so its not that big a problem. For me anyway.
