Is Telkom/ISP's capping the line speeds?

I see that for the past few days my work adsl line speed has dropped from 2048 Kbps Down and 512Kbps up to the following:
640 Kbps Down
384 Kbps Up
And this is a Business 512 line!

Anyone have any idea's regarding this as some of my friends also have the same with there adsl lines. And we are all going threw different ISP's for our adsl accounts.

I experienced the same since wednesday - at times I also could not even connect to the server - reprted the fault twice - had no feedback as yet - but everything seems to be working OK since yesterday (friday) afternoon.

Looks to me it only happened at month end when people were downloading like mad, and the thought has also crossed my mind that telkom was deliberately capping line speed during month-end

Its a setting on the dslam, to make adsl more reliable...
nothing to do with your isp

I just checked today and I am in the same boat now too.

WAN Port Statistics:
Link Status: Up
Upstream Speed: 384 kbps
Downstream Speed: 640 kbps

Sorry, I don't understand this: you have a 512 Kbps business connection, and you are complaining because you got way more than that (2048Kbps >> 512), and you are getting only slight;y more than that (640 > 512)?

From what I gather from similar discussions in the forum either way you weren't getting more than 512.
