Hi all.

I've received two calls from Telkom. Both times I was informed that if my company subscribes to DSL512 for R477 per month i get a 3GB cap for free. AFAIK this is complete rubbish but maybe there is a special out there i know nothing about.

Any thoughts????

From what you have stated it sounds rather Anti-competive if it is true.

Ask the person if there is a Contract to sign with terms and ask them to fax the offer to you.
Then please scan in for us so that we can peruse the offer, if you don't mind.

I agree, we need to find out if for sure if they are doing this (don't know how), coz it is really anti-competitive, and falls in line with their strategy of nobody being capped if they're on Telkom ISP. Maybe just all coincidences, but seems like they trying to blow all other ISP's out of the water.
 
Shot for responeses. I did ask for a contract to be faxed or emailed but the lady...Ms G*******...said she doesn't have access to email or a fax machine and that i must register on the telscum website. Very dodgy, i reckon. They didnt even have the speech of "this call is recorded for qual..........". I was thinking it might be a once off cap incentive.

Well the next time she calls insist on confirmation.
Say you need it for your budget. Say anything. Just get the info..
 
I specifically asked how much the cap will be and she specifically said that 3GB is included in the R477p/m DSL512 charge. (which everyone knows is utter twaddle)

Will try to get more info. Its the second time she called so it might be telkom trying to get more ppl trapped in its snare before the SNO comes. If telscum is lying to people then what little (if any) respect i had for them is gone.

Regardless of wether or not theyre lying to you about this. They do and have lied constantly.
 
I have spoken to a few supervisors and have found out that these tele-marketers are lying to customers to lure them into signing a contract and then shrugging their shoulders when the end of month bill comes. I am busy trying to get a little higher up on the pecking order of telkom to delve a little deeper into this...... :mad:

Seriously though, all dealings with Telkom need to be documented and logged in full. You then also need to cross-reference what their website says against what the call centre says. Calling the call centre is like playing russian roulette with a fully loaded pistol...no matter who answers you're gonna get a headache.

telkom are including the 3 gigs in the line rental cost (this is what is being quoted here) - then you still need to pay them as an isp R218 on my bill (or some other isp) - more for a business (+tax)... and interestingly now I look telkom makes no mention of its role as isp on its website - they talk about 'telkom internet' but when you look this is dialup, isdn - no mention of dsl. When you look under adsl they are quoting line rental figures - in theory - according to their website we shouldn't be paying them isp charges. All this is actually arse-about face and completely wrong... telkom are manipulating their market domination to charge every which way - and then again.
