Is that a load sensor?

Had to top up the window washer fluid in my car and while I was there I noticed what looks like an ampere sensor on the ground cable of the battery. It's the first time I see something like this on a car but I guess it makes sense to see how much current is pulled.

Yup, looks like it's giving feedback to the ECU about battery load.

Most modern cars have it apparently, I saw it on a friend's car, I think battery management is a big deal on these newer cars.

Would be interesting what the car does with that information. Might be useful if it could log faults for high battery drain when the car is not driving (vampire current). Or even monitor it over time to see when the battery is due for replacement? It does seem cars are becoming more complex. I did not even know this one had a washer fluid sensor, which is what promoted me to top it up.
