I've seen the reviews, and they keep bashing it... But I've yet to hear from any who has actually owns the phone. Is it as bad as the teviews claim it is? Without trying to compare it with the higher end devices

Not at all, very nice IMHO. My only gripe is the 5MP camera, photos not as good as the older S2 with 8MP camera which I managed to let fall into the ocean...

The S3 Mini is not a bad phone at all.

It's a downgraded S3, or as other people say, it's a small S2.
The 5MP camera does not quite compare to the S3's quality, and it does feel slow compared to the S3, but it's a pretty nice phone. I've not had a single thing that I can really complain about though.

I have the S3 and a friend has the mini, side by side the only difference we could make out was the size, else responsiveness and speed e.t.c. was pretty much equal from what we did with them

Wow... Total opposite from what the reviews are saying.... Lol, sometimes you kinda wonder with these guys

You must remember, these guys that review phones get exposed to so many different types of handsets, with different performance figures, so when they hear S3, they automatically think lightning fast, awesome device... But they didn't review the phone in context, reviewing it not in the shadow of the S3, but as a stand alone device. Yes, the name does play a part in that confusion, but if they saw the specs, they should have reviewed the phone as stand alone, not connected to the original S3...

My wife has one, and from what I can tell, it's as good as an S3, just the size and camera that's different. ANd that's not to say it's a bad thing, as the user experience is very good.... Very recommended as an entry level smartphone...

It isn't a bad phone in itself. The reason it got a poor reception is because its so cut down from what people were hoping for - a truly high end small sized Android phone.

True... Well, it seems like it will quickly be over shadowed by the iminent release of the S4 mini

S4 mini seems to be same as S3 mini. I was hoping for a smaller size flagship phone though it is meh.

the only problem I have with it is the battery charging times, it takes anywhere between 3,5 to 4,5 hours to recharge, which by today's standards it pretty long time especially considering the fact that it does have that big of a battery to charge.

Other than that its a awesome little phone.

It's mainly techies and tech journalists who didnt like the phone, and especially didn't like the misleading naming of the S3 and S4. The specs were well below what was expected, and so took offence to that and rated it accordingly. I also found it a bit dishonest on Samsungs part.

Most end users are pretty happy with it, as is my father in law. All in all, it is a decent android phone and does what most people want without much of a problem. The only problem i see is battery issues as mentioned earlier in this thread

It's an ok phone but how do you justify the extra cost over buying the S2? S2 has an 8MP camera.

My only gripe with the S3 mini is that it doesn't do Automatic Brightness, but other than that, it's a very nice phone.

Expect the price to further come down when the S4 mini launch.
