Yes, I emailed them already but these forums tend to be quicker. It will be great to hear from other users.

It's a new fibre installation and I opted to use my own router. It's old but has not been used for years because ADSL was crap. After a month we cancelled it, so it has a total of under 30 days usage.
Fast forward to recently...I tested the router with my SIM card and it worked as expected. All my devices were connected and working well.

With the fibre line, things are different. It appears I am limited to the current connected device. It's either laptop, desktop, Android smartphone or tablet. Every time I connect a new device, it asks to activate my Afrihost fibre line. I enter my phone # and it sends an OTP. It then removes the previous device from the allowed connections. Meaning only the newly activated device can use the internet. Does this for each device. It won't allow more than 1 concurrent connections. Is this normal?
Back in the ADSL days, I remember one ISP in my area had something similar: WebAfrica 200 GB capped 4Mbps allowed up to 5 simultaneous users.

You can only plug 1 device into the ONT/CPE at a time.

You are getting this error because you have plugged multiple devices in to the ONT or have setup bridge mode in a router or switch. Each MAC address that get's mapped to your profile removes the previous one so if you have 2 laptops plugged into the ONT it would mean that each time you activate on Laptop 1, Laptop 2's MAC address will be removed. When you activate again on Laptop 2 then Laptop 1's MAC address will be removed if that makes sense.

For this reason we recommend you using a Router instead of plugging directly into the CPE or ONT.

Thanks for the reply. I will check the settings on my router and change bridge mode to something else.

It has to be in Router mode. If you use Bridge mode each device will ask our DHCP server for an IP and each device is going to need to activate and only allow 1 device at a time.

You can still get a free router from us if you want?

Free router? Yes please!

Sending you a pvt message...

Good to know

Our routers are free. As in 100% free as long as you have a fibre package when ordering the router. You do not need to return it if you cancel. Delivery is R249 though or if you want to collect it's free.

We now offer the Huawei WS5200 and it's a pretty decent router. Performs pretty well and if you add a second one to extend wifi coverage it's pretty neat.

Nope, with Afrihost the router is yours to keep after 6 months.

If you take a router with a fibre provider that we cover installation for the R999 fee applies to cancellation within 6 months.

If you signup for FrogFoot, Vumatel, Vuma Aerial or Vuma Villages and pay for the installation there is no cancellation fee and the router is still free to keep if you do cancel.

Obviously we don't want people to cancel but I think we offer some great piece of mind with regards to this.

Can I exchange my D-Link AC1200 for the Huawei WS5200?

If the D-Link is faulty the we will test and if it needs to be exchanged then it will be exchanged for a Huawei.

It is not really faulty, it's just that the Wi-Fi range is not very good and I am using my Asus DSL-AC68U as a Fibre router.
