Is there a way to "blank" some forums?

Hi,

I could not find a spot to post this - apologies for posting at a bad place.

I'm not interested in reading the sport forum. Is there a way to set my options that it is ignored and not displayed - even in the search for new posts?

I think it possible, I read somewhere that you can hide the sub-forums, like the philosophy one under off-topic. I presume what u ask for is possible too.
