Hi,
My iBust contract expires soon, is there anything better on the market? ADSL or 3G?
Lately I get download speeds of +-4kb a second on iBurst.

Strange question :p I would have expected the opposite.

Definitely ADSL, but don't get yourself into any contracts, interesting times ahead.

Do your research well, ask around if people heard about them, past experiences etc.

One last thing.....please read the fine print on their website or contract or whatever...thats the stuff they will never ever tell you!

Adsl most def

I absolutely refuse to do business with Telkom ever again. Is it possible to get an ADSL line without getting a bill from Telkom? Can you get ADSL without paying for a Telkom phone line too? Maybe when Neotel starts operating next year I'll give them a try.

hehe, iburst is so hit or miss that someones opinion on it is usually only good for about 500 square meters round their house. For me theres no better option, its faster than adsl (not 4mb adsl obviously) my latency is decent and the soft cap lets me get at least double my normal cap.
But ya, if its completely unusable i'd go for 3G. Prices look pretty good for 1 or 2 gigs.

Yes, that is what they just implemented. :)

You can now get your line rental and ISP account from your ISP, well only a few so far. but it's one bill and you never see Telkom... until it breaks down.

sainet.co.za
webafrica.co.za
and cybersmart.co.za are doing this so far, probably a few others too.

except for the fact your money is still going to telkom. they probably won't care much who you see on he bill.

Well he just didn't want to get the bill from Telkom, at least they aren't involved in the billing process. It's cheaper and obviously easier to arrange everything this way.

You do still need a Telkom landline though.

Not having to deal with Telkom's accounts department may just be enough to get me to use a Telkom product again - if the deal is very good indeed.

Just saw this on the homepage: "Consumers will be able to buy their first fixed-line services from other operators, using Telkom’s local loop of copper cables, within 18 months."

18 months! Why the hell is everything involving Telkom so slow!

Oh, well. Wait and hope. One day we'll be able to get decent bandwidth at reasonable prices. Any year now...

I thought neotel's products are suppose to be out JUNE... guess more delays *sigh*
