Hi just want to know if this is a good motherboard or if I should rather go for an intel board?

ASUS P5KPL ; intel Quad-core / Core2 / Core2-Extreme / Celeron-L (800fsb) / p4 / Pentium D ; intel G31 + iCH7 chipset , 1333(oc)/1066/800 fsb , 4 x dual channel ddr2 800 , 4 x s-ata2 , 1 x parallel ata133 , on-board alc662 5.1 audio with coaxial spdif + gigabit lan ; 3x pci , 1 x pci-e (1x) , 1 x pci-e(16x) - atx

Depends on what cpu you running and what do you want to do with the board ie will you be overclocking at all ?

Intel boards are for those peeps who do not overclock.

i' say so;), unless like QX6700 says if u want to overclock, then maybe go for the Giga-bytes.

It's entry level. I have a similar Gigabyte (G31 + ICH7) and I'm happy with it for my needs.

Planning on using a E8400 cpu and not ever planning to overclock.

p.s. Think my wife has one in her work machine with an E6600 running at 3gig so not to bad a board :)

Ouch not ocing a 8400 sacriledge :)

Go for a cheaper intel board then.

p.s. make sure you have the correct bios so you can flash from a stick or at least another cpu so you can get into windows and then flash

One Thing you should know, NEVER EVER GO FOR AN INTEL BOARD!!!
Overclocking is like a nightmare with intel boards
