Hey guys

I recently bought myself a SEAT Ibiza 1.6 with less than 20 000km on the clock. Now iv come across a good deal, as its a car that iv always wanted. Its an Ibiza Cupra 1.8t, it's done 75 000km. Its selling at a really good price, with all the bells an whistles.

My problem is this, should i sacrifice 50 000km for a better car?

How much are they selling this Cupra for?
I like the Cupra too, but since SEAT has abandoned SA, there are a lot of questions/uncertainties in case you want parts for the car. Is VW still supporting SEAT?

exactly, from what i have heard VW will support them for 10 years (although this could be garbage..its just what i have heard..)
But i think your resale on another SEAT will be pretty horrific in a few years time...
My opinion, sell the Seat and get an I20 or something equally common

lol... sorry seany pooh... I20 > Seat Ibiza

A friend went and bought a Seat Cupra a few months ago, as most owners say they were fantastic.

He owned it for 3 months - but only drove it for 2 months - as it was in the workshok getting TWO new turbo's. Granted, VW did pay the cost and cover the turbos - but getting lifts around after buying a car is pretty **** :/

Two days after he eventually got it back from VW, the battery died ... he bought a new car a few days later.

I'm quite impressed with the SEAT Cupra ... it's a little demon that car!

A mate of mine raced his REVO'd Audi S3 and could only pull away from the Cupra (same engine) in corners. So yeah, all depends what type of driving you need the car for.

Is a Cupra a Leon? I sometimes confuse the two.
If they are different, then which one is the ish?

How much dn you stand to lose on the Ibiza 1.6 if you sell it now.Is the resale loss worth the extra RPM for a car brand thats no longer on the radar.

Ok firstly VW still services SEATS. SEAT left the country but service is still garunteed.

I paid R109 000 for the Ibiza, the Cupra is going for R115 000. The Cupra is modded, has sound system installed and looks like its in a great condition.

I was looking around on private sale adds and i could probably get the same, if not more for what i paid for the Ibiza, if i sell it.

You get the Leon and the Ibiza. THey were made in many different "sport models etc Cupra, FR"

Your vehicle will only really lose serious tosh after about 120k or so. If you can recoup you what you paid for it then I say go for it

biggest mistake i ever made was to buy my a seat ibiza.

I'll just be a lil bummed about losing 50 000km

Have you tried to sell it / trade it in? I got a full house ibiza 1.6 sport (sunroof, mp3, multi function steering), and not one dealer wants it.

Never mind the fact that people say " VW SERVICE IT ", bullshizzle, Hans Strijdom VW services Seat, noone else nearby, none in Sandton anyway. So now its a pain in the ass to service as well cos its out of the way.

Do yourself a favour, take the car to any non-VW dealer / garage and ask what you will get for the car. I have had 3 dealers say no thanks, we dont want a Seat standing on our floor for 6 months, and i dont blame them. I love the little car, i am just pissed that i can't sell it.

Since the vehicle is modded, you will possibly battle to get finance as well as to get VW to maintain the vehicle, AND insurance will be much higher.

I was hoping for a private sale. It might take longer to sell, but you'd get more for it.

The finance should be ok, its the insurace that im worried about Bunny.

The insurance you should worry about, plus the warranty, since it is technically void if the car has been modded.
